Big Winnie. A wide, windy Mississippi reservoir northwest of Deer River, with more sky than shelter and a nickname that fits in a bait-shop sentence.
Usual suspects: Walleye, Yellow perch, Northern pike, Muskie
Winnibigoshish is the name you practice in the truck and then just say Winnie like a local. It sits in the Chippewa National Forest, about fifteen miles northwest of Deer River, and it is the kind of room that can turn a west wind into a personality test.
